Why it lasts

Designed for the conditions you actually have

Lockyer Valley gardens face a specific set of problems.

Heavy summer storms, dry winters, soils that swing between rich alluvial and cracking clay depending on which side of the road you are on, and frost pockets that catch people out.

Lou holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences with a background in plant science, horticulture and soil ecology. In practice that means plant choices made for your soil and aspect rather than from a catalogue, which is the difference between a garden that looks good this week and one that looks good in five years.

Not always a clean slate

Keeping what is worth keeping

A makeover does not have to mean removing everything. Where existing plants and garden features are healthy, suitable and worth retaining, we build the new garden around them rather than starting from scratch.

We will tell you honestly at the consultation what is worth keeping and what is only going to cause you trouble later.

Common questions

What people ask before booking a makeover

Can’t see your question? Call Lou’s on 0424 890 129.

How much does a garden makeover cost?
Every project is different depending on size, access, materials and scope of work. An on-site consultation lets us properly assess the property and prepare a tailored quotation. Consultation fees start from $55 and are deducted from the project cost if the quotation is accepted.
What can be included in a garden makeover?
Depending on the project, a makeover can include clearing unwanted vegetation, garden bed preparation, soil improvement, planting, garden edging, mulching, weed barriers, decorative gravel or rock, turf, and other non-structural garden improvements.
Can you work with my existing garden rather than removing everything?
Yes. Where existing plants and garden features are healthy, suitable and worth retaining, we can incorporate them into the new garden rather than starting completely from scratch.
Do you provide standalone garden design plans?
We do not generally provide standalone landscape design drawings or plans. Our design advice is built into the garden makeover and installation process, covering plant selection, layout, materials and practical solutions suited to your property.
Do you remove green waste and project waste?
Yes. Green waste and project waste removal can be included in the quotation. Depending on project size and access, we may use trailers, skips or other suitable disposal methods.
How long does a garden makeover normally take?
It depends on size, access and complexity. Smaller projects may take a day or two, while larger transformations can take several days or longer. We provide an estimated timeframe with the quotation.
