Completed Block Garden Edging in Vernor, QLD
Garden edging might look like a small detail, but across a larger property it can completely change how the landscape is organised.
For this Vernor project, the goal was to create clearly defined garden areas across several different sections of the property using one consistent block edging style.
This wasn’t a single straight garden border.
The project included long fence-line sections, L-shaped gardens, rectangular areas, curved beds and different finished heights, creating a framework for future planting, mulching and turfing.
Installing Eziwall Block Garden Edging

Eziwall blocks were selected for the new garden edging.
Depending on the location around the property, the finished edging ranged from one to three blocks high.
Lower sections created simple separation between garden and lawn areas, while additional block courses were used where greater visual definition was required.
Before installing the edging, an approximately 50mm crusher-dust bedding layer was prepared and levelled.
Getting the base right was particularly important on the longer sections. Even relatively minor inconsistencies become obvious across an extended straight run of blockwork.
Upper courses were bonded where required, and some areas needed to terminate neatly against existing concrete or retaining-wall surfaces.
Straight Lines, Curves and Changing Ground Levels
One of the more demanding parts of a whole-property edging installation is maintaining consistency when the shape of the garden keeps changing.
Long fence-line runs needed to stay straight.
Curved and circular beds required a completely different layout.
Changes in existing ground levels also meant we needed to consider finished edging heights across the property rather than simply following every rise and fall in the existing surface.
The purpose of the Eziwall installation was garden and lawn separation and landscape definition.
It was not designed or installed as a structural retaining wall.
That distinction is important when deciding how garden edging should be used within a landscape.
Building the Framework for the Garden

Once completed, the blockwork gave the property something it had previously been missing: consistency.
Undefined edges became clearly separated garden and lawn areas.
Different sections of the yard now share the same edging material and visual language, helping connect areas that previously felt unrelated.
It also established the foundation for later landscaping stages including planting, mulching and turfing.
This Vernor project shows how garden edging doesn’t necessarily need to be the most dramatic feature in a landscape to make a significant difference.
When it is installed consistently across a property, it can provide the structure that makes everything else look considered.
